Gilbert-Bunnell Junior Interclub COVID-19 Guidelines

 

The following guidelines are set as precautionary measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic.  These protocols are designed to protect players, volunteers, host facility staff, and GBF Interclub staff.  All guidelines are subject to change, in accordance with CDC and local health officials.  

 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • All tournament staff are required to wear a mask when interacting with others during the tournament.  
  • Tournament participants are encouraged to wear masks when interacting with tournament staff and other individuals.  Masks will not be provided. 
  • All participants are asked to follow host facility or state/local guidelines pertaining to masks.  

 

Culture/Etiquette

  • Handshakes, high-fives and other physical contact should be avoided at all times, including during introductions, encouragement and departures.

 

Spectators

  • One Parent/Guardian is strongly encouraged to stay on-site for the duration of programming to assist with any health and/or inclement weather situations.
  • If activities are occurring around practice facilities, parents/guardians are encouraged to observe from a distance.
  • Spectators should maintain 6 feet of distance from one another at all times. They may leave the cart path in order to avoid close contact with another person.

 

Equipment Sharing

  • At no time should players or opponents share or touch one another’s equipment. This includes but is not limited to - Ball markers, Pushcarts, Golf balls, Clubs, Tees, Towels, Apparel, Rangefinders.
  • Players or their parents/guardians should transport their own golf clubs throughout the event (from their vehicle to when they return them to their vehicle).
  • Tournament Directors/parents/players should refrain from touching player’s equipment as much as possible. In cases where not avoidable, a supply of disinfectant wipes should be made available.

 

Inclement Weather:

  • There will be designated areas to gather during inclement weather to avoid large groups

 

Scoring:

At no time should groups of players or spectators be congregated around an area of the golf course. This is especially important when it comes to the end of a match. 

  • Players and spectators will not congregate at the final green and disperse to their cars or other areas of the property.

Recognizing that Gilbert-Bunnell Junior Interclub brings families and friends together, it will be crucial to maintain the community feeling while social distancing. 

 

Preparing for When Someone Gets Sick:

If someone associated with the program becomes sick, Tournament Operators and parents are expected to follow the reporting guidelines outlined by the CDC. Tournament Operators will be the point of contact for parents to communicate when a person tests positive for COVID-19 or was exposed to someone with COVID-19 within the last 14 days.  Tournament Directors will inform all relevant health officials and close contacts as contemplated by the CDC recommendations and their state and local health authorities.
